Gregory T. Burrell is currently president and CEO of Terry Funeral Home, Inc., located in West Philadelphia. The business was founded by P. S. Terry, Sr. over 80 years ago. Terry Funeral Home has been, and continues to be, known for its outstanding service and impeccable reputation throughout the years.
Additionally, Mr. Burrell is founder, president, and CEO of The Burrell Group, LLC, founded in 1999. The Burrell Group provides funeral home management and consulting services. He is a nationally recognized, 45-year veteran of the funeral business.
Gregory T. Burrell has an outstanding career with humble beginnings in New York, New York. A graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science and Morehouse College, both in Atlanta, Georgia, he has worked for and managed some of the more prominent funeral homes around the country. He has served families of some of our nation's most outstanding citizens, namely: Dr. Ralph David Abernathy, Hon. Lucien E. Blackwell, Hon. C. Delores Tucker, and Rotan Lee, Esq.
He has been involved in major financing, helping to raise more than $6,000.000.00 to fund the acquisitions of funeral homes for a Wall Street firm. He accomplished a major turnaround for a funeral home in North Carolina, growing the business from $60,000 in collections to $611,000 in 3 years. Since his acquisition of Terry Funeral Home in March 2000, he has increased revenues over 100% from $1,000,000 to $2,000,000 in a 3-year period. Terry Funeral Home is currently in the process of constructing a new 14,000 sq ft state-of-the-art facility in West Philadelphia to continue to serve the citizens of Philadelphia. This facility will be the first new African-American funeral home constructed in this community in over 40 years.
Since moving to Philadelphia, civic and charitable duties have been very important to his family. He and his late wife, Maria, hosted an "Evening of Elegance" in 2006 that raised $125,000 for the United Negro College Fund to benefit historically black colleges and universities. He has been nominated by the Philadelphia Chapter of the Morehouse College National Alumni Association as National Alumnus of the Year. He was a former member and chairman of the Pennsylvania State Board of Funeral Directors and a former member of the Board of Directors of the Urban League of Philadelphia. He is also a member of Monumental Baptist Church, where he serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees. He is a member of the Philadelphia Chapter of the National Association of Guardsmen, Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity, Inc. (Alpha Boulé), a life member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and the Morehouse College National Alumni Association.
His professional memberships include Epsilon Nu Delta Mortuary Fraternity, Inc., National Funeral Directors Association, Quaker State Funeral Directors Association, Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association, and the National Funeral Directors & Morticians Association.
In August 2006, Mr. Burrell was elected Corporate Secretary of the National Funeral Directors & Morticians Association. The NFD&MA is the oldest and largest association of African-American Funeral Directors in the world. He was installed as the 63rd General President in 2011 and, consequently, was the first person ever elected to this position from the state of Pennsylvania in the 88-year history of the association.
He has three children: Mercedes, a graduate of North Carolina A&T State University and Trinity University; Jordan, a graduate of Morehouse College; and Morgan, a graduate of Spelman College.

Trisha A. Nash is a 1995 Summa Cum Laude graduate of the American Academy McAllister Institute. After successfully passing the National Board exam and obtaining her license in Pennsylvania, Trish gained valuable experience working in high-volume funeral homes and providing trade embalming services. In addition to her practical work, Trish taught mortuary science at her alma mater for 10 years but now offers continuing education units to her peers.
Trish works with both at-need and pre-need families, ensuring that every life is celebrated with the dignity and honor it so richly deserves.
