A Journey Begins…
Willie Leon Allen, III, the son of the late Willie Allen, Jr., and Lula Mae Howe Allen, was born August 19, 1949, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He received his formal education in the public school system of Philadelphia.
Willie was a man of strong convictions; this truth evidenced itself at an early age. He attended White Rock Baptist Church where he was baptized. He is currently a member of the Beulah Baptist Church of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Willie was joined in holy matrimony to Linda Inez Epps. Willie loved and cherished music, was an entertainer and performed with many singing groups. He was best known for singing with the “Mystics.” Willie was employed as a security guard with the Philadelphia Housing Authority before becoming disabled. He never met a stranger…always joking, laughing and entertaining. He had a love and passion for music, but most of all he loved his family and enjoyed entertaining them.
Willie was preceded in death by his parents and older sibling, Della Mae Sansbury. Those who remain to grow from being loved by him and to see his vision are: his wife, Linda Inez Epps Allen; three sons, Shawn Epps, Willie Leon Allen, IV, Romel Antoine Allen all of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; two foster sons, of the home, Antonio Rorie and Joshua Robinson; one daughter, Chemaine Baynes of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; two brothers-in-law, Walter Sansbury of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Henry C. Elliott of Willingboro, New Jersey; eight grandchildren; one sister, Joan Michelle Allen Elliott of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; three aunts, Juliette Allen Jackson (Pamlee) of Bronx, New York, Rhudine Allen Walker (Dave) of Baltimore, Maryland and Ernestine Grandison Martin of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; one uncle, Charles Grandison (Gloria) of Baltimore, Maryland; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
