Obituary

Wanda Lynette Washington, daughter of the late Clinton Thomas and Mary Louise Wise, Jr. Was born on September 8, 1956, in Philadelphia, PA. She departed this life on March 16, 2019.
Wanda was educated in the Philadelphia School System where she graduated from the University City High School in 1974. After graduating high school, she attended Lock Haven State College and West Chester State College as they were known at that time. She left college and went to work for CATCH for several years before Joining the security team at the Youth Study Center in North East, Philadelphia. She later became a School Police officer with the Philadelphia School District where she finished her career at Horace Furness High School in 2018.
Wanda was baptized and raised in St. Matthew African Methodist Episcopal Church where she left as a young adult, accepted Christ as her Savior and rejoined St. Matthew where she attended until her death.
Wanda always befriended others anywhere on her journey in life: the bus stop, church, supermarket, and even tin he hospital. She even went to Ollies on a hospital leave to buy her hospital roommate a puzzle because that roommate loved putting puzzles together. Wanda saw a need and tried to fill it even in her last days when she couldn’t leave her bed. She had her sister go in the hall and give an elderly woman some cookies and candy. Giving to others was her passion She loved to shop, especially for food along with cooking, but giving it away to others was food for her soul. Her favorite place to visit was Ocean City, Maryland and her last visit was on her last birthday.
Wanda had one sister that preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn: her brother, Clinton; her niece and nephew, Camille and Christian; great nieces, Adriana and Ariana, her adopted nephew Allan Parker; all of Philadelphia; and her sister Tuesday, of Trexlertown, PA.
Feeling the sorrow of her death, a dear family friend, Vivian Claxton; shopping buddy, Larry Thomas; dear friends, Dee Lincoln, Jerrie Hospedale, Debra Barns and a host of cousins and friends.
Lovingly submitted,
The Family
