Obituary

The Obituary
Virgil Franklin Abrams was the oldest of four children born to Reece and Hattie Abrams on October 23, 1936 in Laurens, South Carolina.
He came to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at a young age and received his education in the Philadelphia School System and graduated from Overbrook High School.
He met and married the late Annie Abrams and from this union they raised six children; four boys and two girls, Leon Hawkins (deceased) Bernard Hawkins, the late Corliss Hawkins. Deniece Abrams White, Eric Abrams and William Franklin Abrams.
Virgil worked many jobs and he retired from Hancock & Gross in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was a teamster member til the present time. He was an outgoing person and loved to dance, especially with his late wife, Annie. He loved to play checkers and cards, especially pinochle. Virgil was an avid sports fan and did not like to be disturbed during the game. He was known for his well dressed attire and brim hats. He was pleasant and outspoken, but stern.
Some years ago he was diagnosed with his illness and wasn't expected to make it this long, but God kept him with us until the present time. He fought his battle with his God who he became closer to in his later years.
He was loved by his family and especially his grandchildren, who affectionately called him Pop-Pop.
He leaves to mourn: his loving daughter, Deniece and son-in-law, Irvin White; three sons, Eric Abrams, William Abrams and Bernard Hawkins; one sister, Carrie Storey; one brother-in-law, Charles Hatcher; a host of loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins; a god-daughter, Cynthia; other relatives and many friends and neighbors.
