TERRANCE CAMP was born on October 6, 1946 and departed this life on September 18, 2018. He was the eleventh of twelve children born to the late Lex and Bertha Rabb Camps in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Terrance Camp was raised in Philadelphia, Pa where he attended Philadelphia Public School System graduating from Northeast High School in 1963. Shortly after graduation, he enrolled in the United States Navy where he served his country for four years. While serving, he spent a great deal of time stationed at Corpus Christi in Corpus Christi, Texas. He also spent time at NSA Annapolis Navy Base in Annapolis, MD. “Terry” as he was affectionately known believed in hard work and taking care of his family. He was employed for many years by Interstate Steel Company as a forklift operator until he retired in 2008.
On May 13, 1970 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Terry was united in holy matrimony to Garland McGriff and to this union four children were born.
Some of Terry’s favorites included the Philadelphia Phillies, any style of Cadillac, and traveling. He’s traveled the world and enjoyed sharing those experiences with anyone who would listen. He liked playing the lottery, both day and night numbers, and another past time he enjoyed was watching HGTV for their home repair shows. Of all his past times, what he enjoyed the most was spending time with his grandchildren and telling them stories.
He is preceded in death by four brothers, Robert Camps, James Camps, Lex Camps Jr. and Grady Camps; one sister Jessie Camps; two brothers in law Roosevelt McGriff and Larry Franklin McGriff; and one sister in law Helen McGriff.
He leaves to forever cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 48 years Garland Camp; four children Tiffany, Jill, Halima and Terrance Jr. (Brandice); Nine grandchildren Savion, Duval, Xavier, Sabria, Edrise, Sumaiyah, Saige, Seon, and Sioni; one great grandson Noah; five sisters, Rose Camps Mcleod, Dorothy Camps Alexander, Cathleen Camps Connelly, Catherine Camps Mitchell and Marguerite Camps Talbert (Ansumiama); one brother Alex Camps; three sisters in law Thalia Beasley, Jacqueline McGriff, Jane McGriff; one brothers in law Rollie McGriff; and a host of nieces and nephews.
