On December 3, 1952 RAYMOND STEWART HARRIS was born to the late Raymond Harris and Annie Henrietta Harris in Philadelphia, PA. He is the oldest boy of nine siblings.
Raymond was educated in the catholic school system and graduated from Cardinal Dougherty High School in 1970.
On April 14, 1978 Raymond wed Carol Marion Dash and out of their union of 20 years they had three beautiful daughters Jamila, Aisha and Naima.
Raymond named all three of his daughters the first time he saw them and based on the meaning of their names. To this day each daughter portrays the characteristics of their name.
Raymond ( Brother Jamil) accepted and embraced Islam as his way of life and raised his family as Muslims.
Raymond loved to play chess and the saxophone. He had a keen ear for different instruments and sounds and loved good music.
Raymond loved to entertain and enjoyed company and hanging out with his companions. He was affectionately called “Cool Stew” by his friends.
During his years after retiring from working in the janitorial field, he became really close with a gentleman by the name of Michael Sutherland and assisted Mike with the management and maintaining of his laundromat. Everyone who came across “Cool Stew” at the laundromat loved him.
He also became close with Mr. William Ortiz and called him family.
Raymond was preceded in death by both parents, Raymond and Annie Harris and sibling, Jerome Harris.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories: his siblings, Valeria Banks (Akron), LeeAnn Harris, Aaron Harris, David Harris ( Debra Harris), Joy Taylor ( Samuel) Andrea Harris and Monique Dove (Aaron); daughters, Jamila, Aisha and Naima Harris; grandchildren, Reuben (Tahir), Nafees, Nadir, Majeed, Nasheed, Nadiyah, Sameenah, Nylah, Naeem, Najilah, Aniyah and Nameer; great-grands, Naim, Treasure, Tahir and Saiyir; and a host of relatives, family and friends who will miss him dearly.
