Melzetta Adams, known to many as “Mel”, was born December 28, 1926, and deceased July 2, 2019, at the age of 92. Mel was born in Camden, South Carolina and was one of 11 children born to Addie Brown and Reverend Willie Brown. She was married to John B “Bernie” Adams for 68 years and resided in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Mel and Bernie met in the 1940’s when she walked into Bernie’s family-owned grocery store in the East Wick section of Philadelphia.
Mel was a professionally trained vocalist and attended the Settlement Music School located in Germantown. She sang for many years on the choir at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Mt. Airy. Mel had a passion for sewing and was always fashionably dressed. She loved animals and was big fan of Elvis Presley. She is survived by her husband, 3 daughters, 3 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 1 sister, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mel was known her unique personality. She was extraordinarily candid and never failed to speak her mind. Even though she may not have always been able to verbalize her love, she always found a way to express her affection for her family. She will be missed.
