JAMES “JONESY” JONES was born on January 5, 1971 in Philadelphia, PA to James E. Jones and the late Patricia A. Jones. James was educated through the Philadelphia School System, attending Albert M. Greenfield School for elementary and middle school and Parkway Center City for High School.
James’ work experience started off with a high school internship and later full-time employment with the Philadelphia Zoo where he performed carpentry for animal enclosures and was responsible for animal transportation. After transitioning from the Philadelphia Zoo, James became a corrections officer for the Philadelphia Police Department.  He then became a Philadelphia Police Officer serving at the 16th District. He later transitioned to become a Temple University Police Officer, where he had an illustrious career. He served as a foot Patrol Officer, a Bicycle Patrol Officer, the personal driver for the President of Temple University, and the University’s football team’s personal protector and mentor.
James was accomplished in the realm of law enforcement, being recognized as the Police Officer of the year by Temple University in 2011. He also received various distinguished awards for his service and excellence pertaining to safety and community engagement. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Philadelphia Police Crisis Intervention Team.
His daughter remembers him as a loving, kind, supportive, and empowering father who encouraged her to pursue her goals. He was a generous and dedicated individual who loved protecting the community and who was passionate about changing the world through service, education, and mentorship. He was active with inner city mentorship programs and schools and often volunteered as a chess tutor and bike safety workshop coordinator.
James leaves behind a devoted father, James E. Jones; a beloved and cherished daughter, Nachaé J. Jones; a loving brother, Christopher E. Jones; a thoughtful sister, Rhonda J. Jones-Brown; two nieces, Chanel and Chrishaundra Jones; eight nephews, Christopher Jr., Ernest Brown, Christian, Kwimir, Ramier, Chrishaun, Shane and Christopher Jones; and a host of caring cousins, other relatives and friends.
