Obituary

On June 22, 2019, Almighty God called Courtney G. Simmons to enter her into His eternal Heavenly Kingdom after a valiant and determined struggle with a long term illness.
Courtney G. Simmons was born November 18, 1943 to Louie M. Jones and the late Rufus Hilton.
She attended the Philadelphia public schools and then went to Elwin Training School, where she obtained her degree in nursing.
Her first nursing position was at Delaware County Memorial Hospital in Springfield, Pennsylvania. From there, she worked at other areas for a while, but most of all she spent 35 years at Frankford Hospital from which she retired.
In 1964 she was married to Stan Garrett Jr. and with that marriage they had one son, Stanford Garrett III. Later on in her life, she met her first love, William Simmons and they got married in 1983. With this marriage they had a blended family which included four sons, Stan Garrett, Craig, Tony Simmons and Billy Simmons (deceased) and two daughters, Loren Simmons and Deborah Dumas, 22 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
She joined Christlike Baptist Church at an early age, and as a member, she served on the nurse’s board.
She was baptized and saved with the grace of God. In addition, she served on various committees and loved her church family.
Courtney leaves to mourn: her husband, William E. Simmons, Sr.; her children, Stanford Garrett (Rhonda) Loren Simmons-Lee, Deborah Dumas (Dorian), Anthony Simmons (Franchella), Craig Simmons, and William E. Simmons Jr. (deceased) and daughter-in-law, Lynda; 22 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren; brother, Gilbert Hilton and wife, Evonne; sister, Louise M. Jones (deceased); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and numerous friends to include her best friend, Trisha.
Sorrowfully Submitted,
The Family
