Obituary

On Monday, May 6, 2019, Annie Ruth Jordan departed this earth and took her heavenly wings.
Annie was born on February 25, 1930 in Burgaw, North Carolina. She was 1 of 6 children of the late Black and Carrie London. Four of her siblings have preceded her in death.
Annie received her primary education in North Carolina and graduated from the James Martin School of Nursing.
Annie married the late John Galloway Jordan Sr. where she was the mother of 4 children, Margaret Joyce Jordan Moore, Galloway Jordan Jr., Melvin Lee Jordan, Melita Jacqueline Jordan. She was a loving and devoted mother.
Annie moved to Philadelphia, PA from North Carolina to pursue more opportunities for her and her children.
Annie worked as an Operating Room Technician at the Pennsylvania, Methodist and Thomas Jefferson Hospitals. She was a hard worker and retired after over 35 years of service. She not only gave service to her family and her job but to the community, as well. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Knights of Peter Claver where she served as the Grand Lady, an usher at her church, a choir member, and a Girl Scout Leader to the youth.
Annie was an avid gardener and took great pride in creating her garden space. She also created great home decorations at Christmas time. Annie loved the beach and traveling around the world with her family and friends.
Annie was an independent woman with a no nonsense attitude. She would give you a “look” that would cause you to straighten up quickly. She provided the best she had to her children and achieved the American Dream of home ownership.
She was affectionately known as the “Jordan Family Matriarch”. She was always able to round up everyone. She leaves to cherish her memory: Melita (daughter), James(brother), 3 granddaughters, 4 grandsons, a multitude of great-grands, and great-great grands and a host of nieces and nephews.
