Obituary

William "Billy" Jackson was born on June 29, 1937, in the farming district of Lee County, GA, as the eldest son of the late Lou Jackson. After the passing of their mother, Billy and his younger brother, Tommy, were lovingly raised by their grandmother, Ada Jackson. In 1950, the brothers moved to Darby, PA, where their Uncle Joe and Aunt Rushie Lindsey continued their upbringing, along with their sisters: Rushie Belinda, and Michelle.

Billy graduated from Darby High School in 1957 and shortly thereafter married Dora Dorita Byrd on April 16, 1960. Together, they built a life rooted in love, family, and devotion, sharing 50 wonderful years of marriage until Dora's passing on July 4, 2010. Their union was blessed with three children: Angela, Tyrone, and Veronica, who were the pride of Billy's life.

Billy dedicated 42 years of service to Merck Sharp & Dohme, where he worked with integrity and commitment until his retirement in September 1999. A man of many passions, he cherished family gatherings and holidays, where he could celebrate life surrounded by loved ones. Billy's love of baseball was a particular joy, and he passed this passion on to his son and grandsons, creating memories that will be treasured forever.

In addition to his devotion to family, Billy was a longtime and active member of the Masonic Lodge. His kindness, thoughtfulness, and unwavering dedication to both his family and his community left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Billy leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his three children: Angela Boyd, Tyrone Jackson, and Veronica Jackson; his grandchildren: Jamal Boyd, Tyreek Jackson, Aleisha Jackson, Maurice Jackson, and Tamera Tyler; and his great-grandchildren, Hamire and Namiya. He is also remembered fondly by his sister, Michelle Patterson, along with countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and godchildren.
