William Lukumonu Iretioluwa Alimi, age 38, passed on July 26, 2022. He arrived into this world on May 21, 1984, second-born son to Najim and Wilhelmina Alimi in Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria. Ireti, as he was known by family, was a private, passionate and giving person. He attended Chrisland Primary School in Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria from preschool through the 4th grade. In December of 1993 he moved to Philadelphia, PA, USA, and continued his education at Belmont Elementary School. He was adventurous and also mischievous, particularly with his best friend Gerald Smith. They would always venture off after school to the local arcade down the street to play Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat instead of coming straight home. This caused their mothers to lose patience with them from time to time.  He went on to attend Sulzberger Middle School and graduated from Overbrook High School, which is also his mother's alma mater. He and his late father had a unique relationship, as he sought out advice and guidance entering into his young adult years. Similarly, he was extremely close to his mother who was an integral part of his life as he matured. He was a thoughtful brother, always putting others thoughts and feelings first and protecting their interests. He and Gerald Smith were childhood friends and he spent a lot of time with his family and was godfather to his son Jonathan Tyrone Smith. Ireti was hard-working and a team-work oriented employee. He liked fashion, especially his "starter" hats. Ireti was an avid basketball enthusiast going by the name "stat box" by his friends and family. He enjoyed listening to music and going to the movies. He was a good bowler, loved to work out in the gym, and became a vegetarian. Ireti was a fun and loving uncle. He would playfully encourage his nephews and niece to do things to get a rise out of their parents and there wasn't anything he wouldn't do for them. Spiritually, Ireti was a Christian, believing Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was an active church member at Life in Christ Ministries giving his time and sharing his gifts and talents in the music ministry. Ireti found love with Erika Dawkins as he was navigating his life's purpose and she was good for him. He was devoted and that love was reciprocated.    Ireti is survived by his mother Wilhelmina Alimi, Ronke Alimi, his siblings Funso (Therese) Alimi, Ibukun (Funke) Alimi, and Sike (Tobi) Ajayi, two nephews, Daniel and Atilola, and one niece, Similola, as well as extended family, friends and mentors he touched, who loved him dearly and helped him along his journey to become the person he was. Ireti loved fiercely and deeply and we take comfort in knowing that he is present with the Lord.
