The sunrise for Virginia Margaret Johnson began on October 8, 1937, to Katherine Holloway and Raymond Clayton in Philadelphia, PA. "Puggie" as she was affectionately known, attended Philadelphia Public Schools, where she graduated from Overbrook High School. Later, she attended Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School and held several positions in public service. Ultimately, her love for children led her to opening and operating her own daycare center which she operated out of her home for many years. Puggie was an avid reader; those who knew her rarely saw her without a book. She took her children to the library weekly and their friends often tagged along. Puggie tutored, advised, and mentored everyone that she knew, especially children. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, trivia, game shows, and most of all her favorite, Jeopardy. In addition, Virginia had an open door policy as all family/ friends were welcome and could come and have a meal and a safe space. Sunset for Virginia was on June 16, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband Jesse Parker, her Eldest son Gregory, and Grandson 'King' Jordan. Virginia lived a long and fruitful life as she leaves behind many to mourn and celebrate her life; 6 children: Blanden (Weas), Lisa, James, Sharon, Jesse, John (Keith), one Daughter-in-law: Lisa, one Son-in-law: Hayward and 14 Grandchildren: Kenan, Shaneka, Latrice, James, Latoya, Sarah, Kendra, Blanden, Christian, Keon, Latisha, Jalin, Jeremy, Joshua and 22 Great grandchildren; Her siblings: Dolores Montague, Raymond Clayton (deceased)Brenda Barrett-Mack(deceased) Lawrence Barrett(deceased) Ralph Barrett and Catherine Douglas and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and great friends. Virginia had a very special and treasured relationship with her granddaughter, Kendra, who cared for her lovingly during the past year. Family Prayer We trust in him when dark doubts assail us, We trust in him when our strength is small, We trust in him when simply trusting him seems the hardest thing of all. May God, who loves each one of us, stay always at our side. To comfort them throughout these days and be our friend and guide. Although it's hard to understand just why these things must be, we'll try to find some comfort in our thoughts and memories. Thinking of the things she's done and said, that is what will keep Virginia close to us through all our days ahead. We love you, now have peace and rest.
