Vanessa Darchelle Wright received her wings on Tuesday, June 18th, 2024. She was 71 years old.

Vanessa was born in Philadelphia, Pa on October 14, 1952. She was lovingly referred to as "Van" by many. Vanessa was educated in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia school system. She attended St. Ludwig's Catholic School from K-8th and later graduated from Bishop Neumann Business School in 1970. After graduation, she continued her love of the Catholic school system and became employed by the same Archdioceses for many years. From there she went on to have a long career working in the medical business field at Hahnemann Hospital and Penn Medicine where she worked until her last days.

From an early age Vanessa was immersed in the Christian community that would ultimately become a lifelong support for her. She joined Deliverance Evangelistic Church, where she belonged and was a member for many years. Vanessa enjoyed life to the fullest; you could always catch her shopping or out to eat. She also was a collector of many things, but dolls were definitely at the top of her list. Vanessa was a strong lover of family and friends, and enjoyed attending family gatherings. She rarely missed birthdays or special events.

Vanessa was blessed to have a large, loving family that she leaves behind. Her family left behind includes her "Baby Girl", daughter/niece Imani who she always had a special place in her heart for. Vanessa was preceded in death by her mother, father and sister, Dorothea. She is survived by her siblings Lorraine, Tarik, LaVaeda, Cynthia, Tina, Bernadette, Charles, Andrea, Crystal and Darlene, as well as her aunts Jean and Diane, and her uncle Wayne. Vanessa is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Deborah and Vera, and her brother-in-law, John. She leaves behind a multitude of cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as her newest best friend, her dog Homer. Her departure comes as a great shock and a deep wound, and it is gravely felt by her family and countless others who loved her passionately in her wide network of community, including many dear friends, peers, and co-workers at Penn Medicine, where she worked for approximately 20 years. Van will always be remembered affectionately for her tenacity, resilience, and persistence.
