Today, we gather to honor the life of Valderine Heard, mother, sister and a beloved friend to many. Born May 25th 1956, she passed away peacefully the morning of Monday, April 29th at the age of 67.
"Val", as she was called, was a woman known for her kindness, her unwavering support, and her laughter. She was born and raised in Philadelphia she graduated from University City High School. She went on to study nursing at McCarries's Nursing School to become a Certified Nursing Assistant. Val retired from nursing at Golden Silpper Nursing Home in 2004. Val loved to crochet and have a good time. She enjoyed playing Pinochle and trying to "rub heads". She also enjoyed getting together with family to play Pokeno, Val enjoyed music and singing along to all of her favorite songs. She loved to read cheesy romance novels too. Most of all Val enjoyed spending time with her daughters or as she would lovingly call them her girls. Val also loved each and every moment that she got to spend with her grandson DeMarco aka her Noodle. Anyone that knew Val knows that she was known for her famous, "Hey Sweetie!" Greeting to everyone!
Valderine leaves to mourn her Daughters, Deniece and Dorothy Heard, her grandson DeMarco Wilson, 4 Sisters Darlene Barbee, Leonora Austin (Marshall) Charlene Fullard (Kenneth) and LaQueta Powell. 1 Brother, Michael Brown (Denise), 3 nephews and 2 nieces. Also all of her Cousins, 1 Aunt Nadine Withers and 1 Uncle Peter Oats, friends and extended family.
In closing, I want to thank each of you for being a part of Valderine's life. Your presence here today is a testament to the impact she had on all of us. While she may no longer be with us, her spirit lives on in our hearts and memories.
Valderine, know that you are loved and deeply missed. May you rest in peace.
