SOLOMON MURRAY was born on March 26, 1938 to Solomon T. Murray and Helen (Nee) Rollins Murray.

Junie, as he was affectionately called, was born and raised in West Philadelphia. He attended the Philadelphia School System.

Solomon met Mary Joan Badger and they married on March 04, 1956. From this union, they had three daughters, Angela, Sheila, and Jacquelyn. They were married for 62 years at the time of Joan's death. Solomon worked two jobs for the majority of his life. He was employed with Hopkins Ford for 30 years until he retired. Solomon could put together any kind of car.

In his spare time, he was a diehard Eagles fan. He never missed a game on television. He was an avid fisherman. He loved to attend live jazz concerts. His favorite artists were Clifford Brown, Miles Davis, Lee Morgan, and Horace Silver.

He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren.

In his final days, he made the decision to be buried as a Muslim. He took his shahada with his grandsons present, per his request.

He was the first of five children. He is survived by Leonard (Brenda) Murray and Paulette (Willie) Jones.

Solomon was preceded in death by his wife Joan; his brother, David (Diane) Murray; and sister, Louise (Thaddeus) Woodson; Grandchildren, Amina and Shawn, Jr.

He is survived by his three daughters: Angela, Sheila, and Jacquelyn. His grandchildren: Shawn (Joy), Anwar (Tabitha), Harry (Aneesah), Meleah, Patricia, and Patrick. His great-grandchildren: Dimire, Zahmir, Aniyah, Husain, Leo, Jace, and Konnor. His great-great grandchildren: Zayla and Karli. He had a favorite nephew: Kevin Woodson, Sr. He had a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who loved him dearly.
