SHARRON ELIZABETH COLLINS was born on September 11, 1951 in Oakland, California. She is the daughter of Alyce and William Arnold. On December 2, 2021 she went home to be with the Lord. Sharron moved to Philadelphia with her family at the age of five years old. Sharron was affectionately known as Sherri, and called Shay Shay by her grandchildren. She was educated in the Philadelphia School System and received her diploma from West Philadelphia High. Sharron was accepted into Hussian Private Art College and attended Tracey Warner School of Design. Sharron also graduated from the TERTAP program at Thomas Jefferson University. She received a full scholarship to attend the World Woman's Conference in Beijing, China. On March 7, 1971 Sharron was united in holy matrimony to Montreal Collins and two children were born through this union; Cachutta Collins-Wood and Monica Gilmore. Sharron has always been an entrepreneur and employer through her many businesses. She was a high achieving Sales Manager for Avon Corporation. She managed a local rap group, Sugar and Spice. She begin designing under Sherri Collins Designs which gave way to fashion shows and allowed her to be featured in" Philadelphia Dresses The World. Her enterprises included: doll making, soap and bath toiletries, jewelry, lingerie, wedding planning, books, printing, silk screening, and commissioned art work that included murals. As the sole proprietor of Sherri Collins Designs Boutique, located in the heart of West Philadelphia on 52nd Street, she employed local Air Brush Artists and aspiring youth. Sharon was a pillar in her community and she started The Tocarra Girls Social Club which taught young women the importance of self care, entrepreneurship and etiquette. She was an Art Teacher at Walnut Hill Community Center and she assisted with the coordination of a Youth Program that provided free computers to the community. Sharron served for ten years as a Block Captain and was a Committee Woman and Secretary for the 60th Ward for twenty years. As the Block Captain she participated in Play Street and the City Food Program. She and her husband Montreal founded "Montrell Have A Heart Foundation", in which they donated bikes, bounce houses, pools, games, and provided free water ice and treats. She held weekly Bible Study for the children and their parents attended. Sharron hosted a free fellowship at Fairmount Park called " The Glory Gathering". With a wealth of knowledge and life experiences, Sharron decided to start two of her own nonprofit organizations C.L.O.U.T. and Turquoise Butterfly, in honor of her mother. She has always had a heart to serve and give to others, and became the primary caregiver of her invalid mother and husband. Sherri loved God and served humanity wholeheartedly and faithfully. She attended Emmanuel Christian Center Inc., under the leadership of Overseer William Brownlee and First Lady Talia Brownlee. She was the Vice President of the Mother's Board. Mother Collins was the President of Resources Ministry and helped to distribute food on a weekly basis to the community. Her caring and outgoing personality caused some of the neighbors to visit her church home. Mother Collins also served as the leader over the Prayer Line of Emmanuel Christian Center and led many people to HEALING, FREEDOM, and DELIVERANCE. She leaves to cherish precious memories: Her loving daughters; Cachutta Collins-Wood and Monica Gilmore; son in low: Joshua Gilmore; 13 grandchildren: Montrell, Mahoghany, Makhi, Majilani, Miyonna, Micayah, Mitreyou, Maquan, Mahanaim, Joshua, Jacob, Mahalo, Nialana, 4 great grandchildren: Mi'Lee, Major, Ma'Zyla, Aria; Sisters: Bonita and Kimberly; sister-in-law: Cachutta Johnson, nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
