Obituary

Sandra Mitchell was born on February 23, 1961 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Sarah and James Mitchell, Sr. She fell asleep in death on May 5, 2022. She was the youngest of her parent's children; James Jr., Albert, Marie, Edward, Daisey, Barbara and Freddie. She graduated from Dobbins High School. For the last 20 years she was employed by the Internal Revenue Service. Sandra (or "Sandy" as she was affectionately called) studied the Bible with Sis. Elizabeth Boyd. She dedicated her life to Jehovah God, was baptized on May 16, 1996, and served him faithfully as one of His Witnesses until her death. Sandy wonderfully fulfilled the role of both mother and father to her children Kyra, Antonio, Sara and Tyrelle Mitchell, and was a loving grandmother to Aiden Mitchell. To better communicate with Aiden, she began to learn Sign Language and prayed for the day when he would be able to make his first comment at the Kingdom Hall. Before her death, it was her hope to finally meet her grandchildren from her son Antonio. She is now sleeping, but will meet them in paradise. Sandy was more than happy to be the central figure in the lives of her children. She was known to most as quiet and soft spoken, but her kids knew the truth. Anyone who knows them knows that she was a star in their eyes, and that brought joy to her heart. Sandy loved baking, and her friends loved when she made her famous chicken wings. It was her dream of seeing the mountain ranges in Alaska. She loved going on road trips, but said "I will not learn how to drive until the new system of things." Her favorite band was the Jackson 5. Sandy was a great dancer, and had a great sense of humor. She was also the best Jax player in the world! Sandy loved sharing Bible truths with others. If you were going through a rough time, she would always lovingly advise, "Just pray on it." She was a kind, loving, caring and generous person who was extremely loved. She will be dearly missed. Sandy was preceded in death by her siblings, Edward, Daisey, Barbara, Freddie, her nephew, Thomas Jr., her sister-in-law Shirley, and brother-in-law, Thomas, Sr. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Kyra, Antonio, Sara and Tyrelle, her sister Marie, her brothers James Jr., and Albert, nieces and nephews Windy, Freddie, MaLinda, Chyron, Gregory, Michael, Steven, Kevin, Derrick, Keisha, and a host of other family members and dear friends.
