1947 ~Her Journey~ 2023

Our beloved ROSE MARIE MIDDLETON MORGAN was born on November 25, 1947 to the late McKinley Sr. and Ruth Martin Middleton in Ravenel, South Carolina. She was the fourth of eight children born to this union, and the eighth of twelve, with four other siblings from her father's previous marriage. She departed this life, after many years of illness, very peacefully on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at Delaware Hospice in Milford, DE.

Rose attended the public schools in Dorchester County, graduating from Alston High School in Summerville, SC in 1964. After graduating from high school, she attended North Charleston Trade School, in North Charleston, SC to become a meat cutter.

As a child, Rose attended St. Paul United Methodist Church in Ravenel, South Carolina, where it was mandatory by her parents to build a spiritual foundation to get to know Christ as her personal savior. She attended Sunday school and church every Sunday. At an early age she joined the church.

In 1964, Rose became the proud mother of a son, Antonio F. Middleton. After migrating to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1965, years later she gave birth to her second son, Donovan O. Middleton.

Rose met the love of her life, the late Jethro C. Morgan in November 1984. They were united in holy matrimony on January 5, 1998. They enjoyed traveling and each others company.

Rose spent her career primarily as a meat cutter until she decided to became a bus driver for the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA). She later decided to go back to work as a meat cutter until she retired.

Rose came to Millennium Baptist Church in the Fall of 1986, under the pastorate of the late Rev. David L. Waller Sr. She faithfully served on the following ministries until her illness in 2019, Senior Choir, SanctuaryChoir, Sunday School, Silver Thread, Pastor's Aide, Food Bank, and Healthcare-Praise Sub Sunday Committee. She was also a faithfulmember of the Noon Day Prayer Ministry until the Covid-19 pandemic affected the church! In 2017, Rose was awarded "A True Woman and Servant of God" plaque from the Women's Ministry and in 2013, along with her husband, the late Jethro they were presented with the "Praise Sunday Award".

Rose loved music, cooking, baking, word search puzzles, sports, traveling, going to the casinos and spending time with her family and havingfun with her friends.

She will forever be remembered for her unfiltered opinion, frank advice, gentle spirit, and sense of humor.She loved her family and was a very kind hearted and giving person. Her advice came from a place of love and she would always help you find a solution in the end, even if she had to tell you about yourself in the beginning. She was passionate about her family and friends and would do whatever she could to help them.

In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by six siblings: Virginia Walker, Sarah Vose, James D. Middleton, McKinley Middleton Jr. Luther Middleton and Gwendolyn Sprinkle.

She leaves to cherish her memory: two sons, Dr. Antonio F. Middleton (Ramona) and Donovan O. Middleton (Shelly); five grandchildren, Lakieza (Chesha), Antoine (Georgetta), Andrew (Shelay), Anisha and Anson; great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Lee Sanders of Jacksonville, FL, Dolly Gordon and Deborah Williams (Carlos) of Ravenel, SC, Carolyn Young (James) of Orangeburg, SC and Audrey Laribo of Philadelphia, PA; sisters-in-law, Delores and Doris Middleton of Jacksonville, FL; uncle, Nelson Martin of Willingboro, NJ; 2 aunts, Elizabeth Martin of Adams Run, SC and Louise Martin of Philadelphia, PA; a host nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews; cousins, neighbors and friends.
