Obituary

Robert Richmond Blalock Sr. Was born to the late Orlando and Mildred Blalock in Washington D.C. He was educated in Washington D.C. school district at Dunbar High School. Robert Blalock moved to Philadelphia in 1953. He had several jobs before settling at Merk Sharp and Dohme where he retired as a Pharmaceutical line leader for over 30 years. After Robert finished His duties at Merk his priorities were still not over he made sure when he arrived home and before he went to bed he took his children to school religiously every morning. After a few years of retiring from Merk Robert got restless and went back into the work force at Bucks County Community college for more than ten years. Robert was blessed with a loving family he met and married Gertrude Garvin who proceeded him in death and through this union Robert Jr. Ronald and Sylvia were born. Later in life Robert married Carol Turner. Through this union Rashida was born Robert was a devoted Eagles fan, you were sure to find him at the vet stadium where he was a season ticket holder for over 20 years. He loved having gatherings at his home . He loved spoiling his family, playing cards and talking trash while he won. He loved his grill and cooking bushels of crabs for his family. Robert lived on the corner house of Moss street. He loved the up keep of his home and took pride of his outdoor decor especially his grass and hedges. Indoors you could find him in the kitchen window people watching and monitoring his driveway from being blocked and if you were in direct violation you would for sure hear his distinct voice advising you how to park. That was his thing. He was a hard working loving devoted Father and Father figure to many. He was affectionately known as Mr. Bob the man on the porch with his legs crossed with a smile and a presidential wave. Robert treasured trips to Ocean city Maryland as a family tradition. He loved his pets who proceeded him in death. his dog (Sebastian ) and his Cats (Fritz and whiskers) He loved Disney land Virginia Beach and Family reunions. He was a modest man but was a connoisseur of fine food clothing cars and loved organization and order. Robert leaves to mourn: his loving wife, Carol Blalock; children, Robert Richmond Blalock Jr., Ronald Orlando Blalock, Sylvia Blalock (Pinkney Lovell Smith), Rashida Shema Blalock-Ellerby(Joseph Ellerby) and Richard Tim Fisher; Grandchildren, Yetta Vaughn (Dwight Vaughn), Ashley G. Smith, Jamal Blalock, Ronald Blalock Jr. and Lovell Shawn Smith who both proceeded him in death; 10 Great Grandchildren and (2) Great-Great grandchildren; sisters, Sylvia Blalock (preceded in death), Mildred Smallwood, Constance Blalock Hall, Shirley Blalock Porter and Patricia Jenkins-Dunston;13 in-laws; Host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, cousins and friends.
