Reine Chimelle Azandossessi was born in Cotonou, Benin, and went on to build a life and livelihood in the United States, where she spent many years working as a skilled and dedicated hair braider, bringing artistry and care to all who sat in her chair.

Though far from her homeland, Reine carried Benin with her in spirit, and now, in passing on June 6, 2026, she will make her final journey home, returning to the country of her birth for burial.

She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, who will carry her memory.
