Obituary

NAOMI FAITH BANKS, was born on November 9, 1941 the youngest of seven children to the late Reverend Ernest and Charity Parker in Baltimore, Maryland.

Naomi was educated in the Baltimore Public School System, graduating from Carver Vocational Technical High School class of 1958 with a trade in dressmaking. After graduation she was employed in various occupations from retail to healthcare. Naomi and her family relocated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Feb, 1975. In her later years proving it is never too late to achieve your goals, she earned her certification as a Nurse Assistant. Naomi enjoyed working as a nurse assistant, at the Willow Terrace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Philadelphia until her retirement.

Naomi has been married for over four decades (Dec 11, 1978) to her love, Harold A. Banks, who affectionately referred to her as "Nay", and from this union they were blessed with their loving and devoted son Terrence whom they both adored. Naomi was formerly married to Oscar O. Stocks, Sr. From this union they were blessed with three affectionate and loving children Sonia (Lynn), Oscar (Jr), and Michael who they adored as well.

Naomi was a fun loving, free spirited person with a love for life. She loved to party, enjoyed good music and good food. She also enjoyed outings like going to the movies, the beach and amusement parks. All those who knew her can attest that her favorite pastime was shopping. Naomi would go to the mall and literally shop until you dropped, leaving you looking for a place to sit down, as she was off to the next store. While in the Rehabilitation facility ,one of her desires and promises to her granddaughters were to them shopping she went home.

Naomi was a gentle and loving mother and never missed an opportunity to express her love to her children. This was also evident in her role as grandmother. Naomi loved spending time with her family and would always find a reason for family gatherings. She loved to cook, whether during the holidays or just because. She would prepare large meals and invite everyone to dinner, just to be together, to laugh, and love one another.

As a testament to her namesake, "Faith" she was unwavering in her belief in God. Naomi accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior under the ministry of Bishop Steven W. Banks. She was often heard saying "Jesus keep me near the cross". Two of her favorite Gospel songs were, Oh Happy Day, and Going Up Yonder.

After a prolonged illness, the Lord in his infinite wisdom decided to call his angel home. Naomi was a kind and generous soul who placed everyone's needs before her own. Her love and compassion was extended to all who knew her. She was a "fashionista" at heart and will always be remembered for her timeless beauty, and her radiant smile.

Naomi was preceded in death by her siblings: Howard, Joseph, Helen, Ernestine, Gloria, and Edith; bonus daughter, Veronica Banks.
