Mary Magalene Lane White was born on April 23rd, 1929 to the late Jeff Lane Sr. and the late Quessie Jones Lane. She was the sixth of seven children. She departed this earth to be with the Lord on February 6th, 2022. Mary completed her education in Tarheel, North Carolina. On June 15, 1950, Mary was united in Holy Matrimony with the love of her life Richard White from this union 12 children were born. Six children were born in Tarheel, North Carolina and six children were born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 1957, Richard and Mary moved from North Carolina to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was affectionately known as "Morne" by her loving children. On April 23rd 1972, Mary professed her life to the Lord Jesus Christ and accepted Him as her personal Savior, joining Golden Gate Baptist Church (now Golden Gate Christian Assembly) under the pastorship and leadership of the late Reverend Raymond Hammond. Mary would spend her days and nights reading Bible scriptures and praying for her family and friends. She instilled countless Biblical principals such as learning and living in your purpose, forgiveness, and unity into her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary worked for Philadelphia General Hospital, later known as Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, for 35 years working in several departments before she retired in 1993. Before her retirement, Mary developed an entrepreneurial spirit; she owned and operated the Cambridge Grocery store from 1984-1999. This gumptious spirit was entrenched in her children and grandchildren. Mary was known for her famous Southern cooking, crocheting and her love for sports cheering on all Philadelphia teams. Preceding her in death are parents Jeff Lane Sr. and Quessie Jones Lane. Her devoted husband Richard White, sisters: Janie McAllister of Tarheel, North Carolina and Thelma Inman of Fayetteville, North Carolina; brothers, Hopson Lane Sr., Jeff Lane Jr. and Archie Haywood Lane all from Tarheel, North Carolina; son-in-law Kurt Bivins of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and daughter-in-law Regina White of Norristown, Pennsylvania, grandchildren: Deanna Bivins of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Joshua Moore and Daniel White of Beacon, New York and great grandchild Michael Ford of Clinton, Maryland. Mary is survived by: her beloved sister, Jeanette Lane McKoy of Brooklyn, New York; her 12 children, Erlise White, Eddie Willis White (*Ellen Rose Farrow), Lorena White, Richard White, Bettie White, Douglas White (Janie) Irvin White (Denise), Sherod White Bivins, Sheila White Wallace (*Kevin Wallace), Thomas White (Vivian), Kim White (*Patrick Jackson) and Carol White Keese (Marshall); 17 grandchildren, Calvin Sr. (Kristine), Chantel (Randy), Kwanzaa (Kia), Douglas Jr. (Tazia), Dejuan, Donnell "Tyree", Joaquin (Amy Lamb), Sasha, Taesha, Fitimah, Kareem "Devin", Markietra, Dashawn, K'ra, Nacion and Marshall Jr.; 19 great-grandchildren, Kayla, Calvin Jr., Anthony, Nia, Damarr, Kwanzaa Jr., Sherita, Kyrin, Mya, Ava, Kalel, Sean, Fallynn, Kiyah, Aniyah, Faakhir, Tristian, Xavier and Zion. She also leaves behind bonus grandchild, Anthony; a host of nieces, nephews, loving cousins and friends.
