Lionel Mabery was born to the late Mrs. Thelma and Mr. Leslie Mabery, Sr. on March 14, 1941 in Norfolk, VA. He was proceeded in death by his siblings, Bernice Sawyer, Doris White, Leslie Mabery, Jr. and Shirley Mabery.

Lionel Mabery was educated in the Norfolk, Virginia Public School System and furthered his education at Norfolk State College.

Lionel was a dedicated employee of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA for over 30 years.

With his charming smile and clean cut attire, although he was a man of very few words, his presence was always felt with his beautiful smile and loving demeanor. Lionel's passion was great music and fast cars. He loved sitting on his porch listening to the music of the 50's, 60's and 70's, including Jazz and Rhythm & Blues.

On May 9th, 1987, Lionel Mabery married the love of his life, Mrs. Martha Mabery.

Lionel leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife of 38 years, Mrs. Martha Mabery, children, Beverly Sawyer, Annette Jacobs, Mary Anne Mabery, Leslie Mabery, and Lamont Mabery, sons-in-law, Anthony Jacobs and Reggie Perry, one sister, Brenda Mabery Jenkins, a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives. He will be greatly missed.
