Life Story

Levord Coffee, affectionately known as "Levy" and "Uncle Le-Le" was born on May 21, 1954 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Van Buren Coffee and Chester Mae Coffee.

Devoted son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend, Levy had the gift of connecting with people at a very early age. He is known for his lovingkindness, notorious sense of humor and stylishness and for being exceptionally personable and the life of the party. He is also known for his great sayings like "that food was slammin'" and "that suit was boss". And, if he loved you, he probably cussed you out at some point then immediately reminded you how much he loved you. Those who knew him know what we mean.

Levy attended Philadelphia public school and was a beauty school graduate. He held a variety of jobs including chef, rail track layer and hairdresser. He enjoyed hobbies such as gardening, traveling and painting. Levy was a minister of music. His passion was singing and sharing music of all kinds. He was blessed with beautiful tenor, at times baritone, vocals. He would have a blast whether he was belting out a solo in the mirror, performing with a local group or recording with gospel choirs. He was a longtime member of the Hickman Temple AME Church choir.

Through his magnetic personality, skills and experiences, Levy gained a host of friends and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his father Van Buren Coffee; mother Chester Mae Coffee; sisters Carolyn Coffee, Geraldine Arnold and Yvonne Coffee; and brother Lewis Coffee.

He leaves to cherish his memories his sisters Bronzella Evans, Inis Coffee and Robin Coffee-Ruff; brother-in-law John Frank Evans; aunt Nancy Miller; nieces and nephews Yolanda "Landa" Arnold, Andre Evans, Shawna Coffee and Devon Coffee; niece-in-law Tracy Coffee; great-niece and great nephews Amber Stukes, Devon "Lil Devon" Coffee, Joshua Coffee and Jayden Williamson; many dear cousins and friends; and cat, Darling.
