Lawrence A. Phillips, was called home to be with the Lord on March 13, 2025. He passed away

at the age of 69 years in Fayetteville, North Carolina and was a cherished son, father, brother, uncle and

friend to many.

Lawrence, one of seven children, was born on February 25, 1956 to Genevia Phillips and the late

Denery Phillips, Sr. He was a Philadelphia native. His primary education was within the public school

system. However, he later went on to receive hisMaster's Degree in Street Smarts from the University

of "Life".

Lawrence worked in the food industry for over 40 years he worked at for Bryn Mawr Terrace for over

17 years as a culinary specialist. He obeyed the mandate of God in Romans 12:20, "If your enemy is

hungry, feed him: if he is thirsty, give him something to drink."

Lawrence accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age. He dedicated his life to sharing love and

laughter. He embodied many of the characteristics referenced in the description of the Men of Gideon.

Through his struggle of hurt, acceptance, disappointment and many other obstacles he remained

resilient. He enjoyed life to the fullest and always had a positive outlook no matter what. Anyone who

knew him will tell you he lived by the notion and will remind everyone around him by reciting his

favorite quote " it get greater later".

Lawrence also known as Big "L" or Phil, was the life of the party. He loved old movies, hanging out

with his friends, and a good drink. However, his favorite hobbies were spending money, cooking, and

smelling good. He enjoyed "Bopping", dressing, always sharp as a tack, with his kangol or top hats and

Stacey Adams being the status quo. He was an outspoken, "tell it like it is" man who never hesitated to

show his loving, kind and generous nature to anyone he encountered.

Lawrence leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Genevia Phillips, two daughters, Relena Perdue

and Attice Whiters, two brothers, Denery (wife Pearl) and John (wife Robin); three sisters, Linda Fisher

(husband Herman), Wanda Roselle, Alberta Allen; The love of his life Joann Chesson, his favorite nephew

and friend, Anthony Jackson (wife Jamie); his longtime friend Phillip Gissendanner three grand-children,

Makhi, Khady, Deguene and a host of family and friends.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his father, Denery Phillips, Sr., his brother James Alston (Uncle

Jimmy). his three nephews Keith Roselle Keith Allen Jr and Corey Phillips his brother in law Keith Allen Sr

and his beloved granddaughter Shaliya Stewart.
