Lancie Giles Jr. was born on August 22, 1947 to Lancie Giles Sr. and Effie Jones in Raleigh, North Carolina. He was the second eldest of six children.

He was educated in The Philadelphia School System. He was inducted into The United States Army on October 4, 1966 and HONORABLY DISCHARGED on October 3, 1968. He was stationed in Fort Hood, Texas and later transferred to St. Louis, Missouri.

He was employed by The Philadelphia Water Department from 1972 until he retired in 2007. He met and fell in love with with Tracey Fooks in 1978. They had a baby girl in July of 1979 and later joined hands in marriage on August 6, 1983.

His favorite pastimes were playing horseshoes, shooting pool and playing pinochle. As well spending as much time that he could with family and friends.

He leaves behind with loving memories: His wife Tracey Giles, Daughter Rajeein (Angelo) McFarland, two brothers Lenwood Giles and Russell (Charline) Giles, two sisters Judy Giles-Hill, Avondell Holloway. Two sisters in law Barbara (John) Smith, Leslie Young, two brothers in law Alfred (Kim) Fooks, Robert (Robin) Willis. A host nieces and nephews, great and great great nieces and nephews. His Goddaughter Sona Henry as well as his namesake nephew Lancie James Hill.
