Jessie Lee Gant was born May 10th,1940 to the late Jesse Williams and Alberta Walker in Gainesville, Florida. In 1945, Jessie and her father relocated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where he met and remarried Almina Williams, who loving raised her has her own. Jessie was proceeded in death by her father Jesse Williams, mother Almina Williams, husband Wyman Gant, son Ronald Gant, and brother Vince Williams. Jessie attended the Philadelphia Public School system earning her high school diploma from Dobbins Vocational High School. Jessie entered the work force at a very young age starting as a babysitter, homemaker, and telemarketer. Jessie was a devoted employee at Bell Atlantic for many years retiring in 1993. Jessie was known for her hard work, commitment and providing for her family. As a young adult, Jessie accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior attending Millennium Baptist Church and Sanctuary Village Ministries. Growing up, Jessie loved to play with her younger sister Juanita. They enjoyed jumping double dutch and playing jacks. Jessie also loved to dress up, becoming a true fashionista who loved to travel. Her love for fashion was impeccable, from an extensive catalog of patterns, boxes of fabric and her effortless sewing skills. Jessie was known for making beautiful wedding gowns, elegant prom dresses, ethnic wear and two-piece sets. Jessie always dressed sharp with her classy outfits, matching hats and shoes, pin curls and pearls. She loved to shop, from long hours at Strawbridges and Macys, to bargaining at the thrift store, ordering out of catalogs and her most recent love for QVC and HSN. Jessie would be sure to find something someone else needed, always thinking of others first. On May 10th, 1958, Jessie married Wyman Gant and from this union were five children, Valerie, Mark, Ronald, Keith Sr., and Venise. Jessie was instrumental in the upbringing of her children and grandchildren, raising many of her grandchildren as her very own. Jessie attended medical appointments, school events, graduations, recitals, sports games, you name it, for her family, she was there. Jessie most memorable act of kindness were her infamous Sunday dinners. She would lovingly prepare dinner and bake delicious cakes while her favorite Richard Smallwood cassette played through her long black radio on top of the refrigerator. Jessie would prepare holiday dinners, celebratory Jessie's Life Story dinners and host family and friends whenever they'd visit. She would be most remembered for her giving spirit and support of others. Jessie was a true gem and a force to be reckoned. Her honesty, her patience, her acts of loving kindness and her sass are just small reminders of how monumental she truly was. Jessie leaves to cherish her most precious memories, four children, Valerie, Mark, Keith Sr. (Schnee) and Venise; nine grandchildren Natasha (Mike), Shamia, Dawn (James), Kimberly, Kiara, Keith Jr., Ronisha, Eliana and Kendall; nine great grandchildren, Shania, Samiyah, Khloe, Kali, Zy'Mir, Zha'Mir, Nahzir, Mikeah and Mahogany; one great-great grandchild Sha'Nyla; sisters Dr. Kinaya Ade' (Jaja) and Juanita Flint, brother Kelvin Williams, sister in law Linda Harris godchildren, Roslyn Roxanne; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and loving friends.
