Psalms 118:24 – This is the day which the Lord hath made; We will rejoice and be glad in it. Jacqueline Elizabeth LeVere-Tapper was born on February 13, 1936, in Philadelphia, PA. She was the eldest daughter of James and Margaret LeVere. "Jackie" as she was affectionately called by Family and Friends was educated in both Sharps County Virginia, the Philadelphia, PA School System and Cheyney University. Jackie was the big sister to Carolynne Glover and Juanita Wilbon whom she loved dearly. Jacqueline married Gerald Augustus Tapper. Sr. January 6, 1954, and through their union five children were born, Maymuna Muhammad, Gerald A. Tapper, Jr., Craig Tapper. Victoria Blue and Kyle Tapper. Jackie was a loving mother and her children were her pride and joy. Unfortunately, a tragic motorcycle accident ended the life of Jackie's beloved husband Gerald Tapper, Sr. when he was 45 years old. Jacqueline used her strong Faith in God to take care of her children while experiencing difficult times without the comfort and security of her husband. After crying out to the Lord for being alone, with 5 children and no job, Jackie picked up her Bible and read the 1st book she opened to. It was Joshua 1:1-9 and through those Scripture verses, Jacqueline's "Faith" walk began, because she knew God was speaking to her. She memorized Joshua 1:1-9 and it became her life verse. With 5 children in tow, and always being a highly intelligent student, Jacqueline decided to enroll in Cheyney University where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Special Education. At her graduation Jackie was awarded Academic Honors of Summa Cum Laude for her academic prowess and stalwart perseverance. During her teaching career Jacqueline taught at many Philadelphia Schools. She was an exceptional Special Education Teacher who made great strides with creating many new techniques and teaching methods, to make education meaningful and productive for her many levels of Special Education Students. "Mrs. Tapper" as she was known by the faculty and students was in high demand due to her teaching abilities. She enjoyed a fulfilling and rewarding career. A Foodie and Excellent cook Jackie loved to entertain family and friends including the children of the neighborhood who lovingly called her "Mom". We will forever miss her delicious fried chicken, and homemade yeast rolls just to name a few. After retiring from her teaching career. Jaqueline enjoyed many hobbies, including traveling with her friends especially the "Golden Girls", Family members, cooking, gardening & going to Church activities. She was an active member of the African Methodist Episcopal Church where she remained until her health declined. Jacqueline went through many obstacles in her life but her "Faith" walk never wavered. Later in her life she was diagnosed with cancer and given 6 to 9 months to live. That was a fight that she fought for two years outlasting the 9 months diagnosis. God stayed Faithful to Jacqueline, she was always ready to encourage and share her testimony. She was loved by her Family, Friends and Students alike. She leaves to mourn her children, Maymuna, Gerald, Craig, Victoria and Kyle; 1 son-in-law, Frederick Blue; and two daughters-in-law, Robin Baylis-Tapper and Rachelle Sanon-Tapper; grandchildren, Briana, Jeremy, Justin, Caleb, Brooklyn, Leanora, Jerry, Avery, Craig, Braheem, Ebony, Alexis, Isaiah and Alana; great grandchildren, Aiden, Amarhi, Makhi, and Jasahi; sisters, Carolynne Glover and Juanita Wilbon; and a host of family and friends.
