On Thursday July 25, 2024, God summoned his faithful servant, James Wallace Harris, Jr., to join him in his Heavenly Kingdom. He was born February 26, 1946, to the late James Wallace and Pennie Louise Harris in Emporia, Virginia.

He attended Greensville County Public Schools in Emporia, Virginia and graduated from Edward W. Wyatt High School in 1964. Upon graduating from High School, James (Buck) relocated to Philadelphia and landed his career.

At an early age he joined the Mars Hill Baptist Church in Emporia, Virginia where he was active in the choir, served as an usher and participated in Sunday School until relocating to Philadelphia.

He was a faithful and dedicated member of Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church. He joined Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church on January 1, 1972. He served as a Church Trustee for most of those 52 years. He was a member of the G.E.B.C. President's Council. Also serving on the Pastor's Anniversary Committee. He was a steadfast member of the music department, singing in various choirs: Male Chorus, Gospel Chorus, Mass Choir and the Choir Ensemble. He was honorably the recipient of the G.E.B.C. Pastor's Appreciation Award, which was presented to him by the late Pastor Frederick L. Bowers, III.

James was employed for Sears and Roebuck for several years until retiring. His position at Sears was Window Display Designer and Appliance Sales Manager.

On his spare time, he enjoyed watching good Ole Westerns. An Advocate sports fan, that did not like to be disturbed while watching basketball during "March Madness Playoffs".

James was proceeded in death by his mother Pennie Louise, father James Harris, Sr. and his brother Dennis McCoy Harris

James leaves to cherish his memory his beloved siblings: Curlen Lee of Catonsville, Maryland, Leon Harris (Carrisa) of Richmond, Virginia, Virgie Baptiste of Bronxville, New York, Deborah Austin (Kenneth) of Suffolk, Virginia, Jerome Harris (Ute) of Kaiserslautern Germany, Gwendolyn Harris of Columbia, Maryland, Brian Harris of Springdale, Maryland and a devoted God Daughter Amber Williams, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

He was "Uncle Buck" to a host of Nieces and Nephews. His jubilant personality and big heart will always be remembered by many other relatives, friends, and colleagues.
