The Obituary
Jaleel Hi-Nith Cathey passed away on May 18, 2024 in his home located in Philadelphia, PA. He was born on January 8, 1991 in Philadelphia, PA to his parents Yolanda Graham-Cathey and Darryl Cathey.
He was a proud resident of Philadelphia, PA and was educated in the Philadelphia Public School System, where he earned his high school diploma. He also attended the JNA Institute of Culinary, where he earned a degree in Culinary Arts.
He held various chef positions and excelled to become the lead manager of the kitchen at Meade Elementary School within the Philadelphia School District. Jaleel also spoke multiple languages which served to help him interact with various population groups.
Many people would attest that Jaleel was an individual who possessed dynamic characteristic traits one which certainly define his character was his kind and considerate heart, his awesome sense of humor and his infectious smile. May we all agree that Jaleel always displayed love for his family and friends. In the case of Jaleel we can all agree that to know him was to love him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Yolanda and Darryl Cathey; his grandparents, Sara Samuels, Vance Williams, Elizabeth and Willie Trapp; niece, Jatiya Graham; and aunt, Alverta Graham.
Jaleel leaves to cherish his brothers, Brandon Graham, Darryl Cathey and his brother-in-law, Marc Bassett; his sister, Ronnie Graham; niece, Brandi Graham; nephews, Dillon Cathey and Tyler Cathey; and a host of aunts, uncles,
cousins and friends along with his great aunt, Marguerite Rose; and godmothers, Katrina and Geraldine. Jaleel's had a host of special friends. Jaleel's special likes were: dogs, turtles, elephants, the color blue, cooking and smurfs. Jaleel also love the singers Monica and Selena.
Home sweet home is where Jaleel has gone he left us all here to carry on. I know he did not want anyone to be sad, because he's now reunited with his loving mom and dad.
