Early Life
George David Conner was born on August 5, 1932, to the late George David Conner II and
Adele Conner in Asheville, North Carolina. In August 1936, his family relocated to Washington,
D.C., and later settled in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in August 1945.

Education and Military Service
George was a graduate of Overbrook High School, Class of 1951. Shortly after graduating, he
answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Army where he served
honorably from 1951 to 1954 as a Paratrooper. His time in the armed forces instilled in him a
sense of discipline, service, and pride that remained with him throughout his life.

Professional Career
Following his military service, George pursued a successful career as a draftsman, a profession
that reflected both his precision and creativity in drawing. He worked with several notable
companies, including RCA, General Electric, and ABB Traction, where he took great pride in his
work and approached every project with dedication and excellence.

Passions and Hobbies
George lived life fully and joyfully, embracing every opportunity to learn, explore, and share his
gifts with others. He was a certified scuba diver, traveling the world to explore the beauty
beneath the surface and marvel at God's creation from a perspective few get to experience. His
adventurous spirit was balanced by a heart for service, he was always ready to lend a helping
hand to others in need, whether it was fixing something around the house, offering a word of
encouragement, or showing up when someone needed support.

At home, George found joy in cooking, both in the kitchen and on the grill, where his family and
friends often gathered to enjoy his delicious meals. He also loved fishing, making homemade
sausage, and watching Westerns, simple pleasures that brought him great contentment and
reflected his appreciation for life's quieter moments.

Faith and Church Involvement
A man of deep faith, George's spiritual journey began early in life. As a young teen, he joined
UME Memorial Baptist Church, where the foundation of his faith was first nurtured. After many
years, he returned to UME Memorial Baptist Church in 2019 as a devoted member,
reconnecting with the church family that had helped shape his early walk with God. His renewed
commitment to his faith was evident in the way he lived, humbly, faithfully, and with a servant's
heart.

Through his quiet strength, steady presence, and genuine love for people, George reflected the
grace and goodness of God in both word and deed.

Family and Legacy
George's greatest pride and joy was his family. On April 24, 1970, he married the love of his life,
Madora Conner, and together they built a home rooted in faith, laughter, and lasting memories.

As a father, George led by quiet example, teaching his sons the values of respect, responsibility,
and hard work, and inspiring them to become men who provide for and care deeply about their
families. His love for them was shown not only in words, but through his actions, in the way he
provided, guided, and consistently showed up for those he loved.

He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Madora Conner, two sons, Derrick (Toshiba)
and Daryl (Nicole) Conner,his grandson Troy Freeman and his three beloved granddaughters,
Taiia, Nyla, and Leah, who affectionately knew him as "Poppy." He delighted in being part of
their lives, celebrating their milestones, cheering for their accomplishments, and sharing in their
joy. Whether it was graduating high school, receiving a college acceptance, or winning a
competition, "Poppy" was always proud and eager to celebrate each moment with them. They
will forever treasure the laughs shared with him, the phone calls and FaceTimes filled with jokes
and joy, and the special bond that made his presence such a comforting constant in their lives.
George also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear
friends, all of whom will remember his gentle spirit, his sense of humor, and the love he shared
so freely.

His legacy of love, strength, and faith will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
