Frederick "Freddie" Thomas Crawford was born to Frederick Leonard and Dorothy Crawford in Philadelphia on Friday, February 25, 1944. He was fortunate to have a bonus father in Biggie Lawson and was an amazing older brother to Donald Lawson.

Freddie grew up in the bottom neighborhood of West Philadelphia, where he attended elementary, junior high, and West Philadelphia High School. During his time at West Philadelphia High School, he refined his love for singing as a tenor in the school choir. He was also selected to represent the school in the All-City High School Choir, composed of the best voices from high school students throughout the city.

After completing high school, he enrolled in the Vocational Nursing program at James Martin School, where he graduated at the top of his class. While working as an LVN nurse, he decided to further his education and enrolled as a pre-nursing student at Oakwood College. During his time at Oakwood, Freddie continued his love for singing by joining the Aeolian Choir and a quartet. He later transferred to Columbia Union College and then Loma Linda University, where he graduated with a B.S. in Medical Records Administration. He also received his M.S. in Education from Temple University.

Freddie had a fulfilling career that allowed him to indulge in his love for travel. He worked for the World Health Organization, where he resided in Scotland, Jamaica, and other countries. Following his tenure with the WHO, he began teaching Medical Records at Philadelphia Community College, where he taught part-time for over 32 years. Freddie also served as the administrator of Medical Records at several hospitals in Philadelphia before retiring from Lankenau Rehab Center. He was highly educated and skilled, and his love for people was evident through his cheerful demeanor, jokes, and smiles.

While living in West Philadelphia, Freddie became close to the Warfield family in his neighborhood. He could often be found at their house, doing homework or playing in the streets with the eight Warfield children, particularly alongside his closest friend, Hazel. When Freddie's mother passed away at a young age, he grew even closer to the Warfield family.

The Warfields were a devout family, and one day Freddie asked to attend church with them. This fateful question led him to Ebenezer S.D.A Church, where Sister Warfield enrolled him in Voice of Prophecy Bible Study Lessons. Upon completing the classes and gaining a full understanding of what God requires, he accepted Christ and became a baptized member of Ebenezer S.D.A Church over sixty years ago. Freddie actively participated in church life, singing in the Youth and Senior Choir, working as a Youth Usher, contributing to the Health Ministries, and serving as a Deacon.

Freddie genuinely believed in Christian compassion, and anyone who knew him understood that they could rely on him for help and support at any time.

On Monday, June 26th, God decided to call his faithful servant home to join his mother, father, bonus father, and best friend, Jack.

He leaves behind his younger brother, Donald Lawson (his one sister-in-law, Lorraine), niece Lauren Lawson, his best friend Hazel Mduba, goddaughter Joya Foster Follette, the entire Warfield family, a host of cousins, church family, and loving friends.
