Obituary

DOROTHY JANET SHULER WILLIAMS was born to the late Essie Dorothy Cotton on July 25, 1959 in Philadelphia, PA, and became a blessing to the late Rev. Sarah Elizabeth (nee Martin) and the late James Edward Shuler, Sr.

She was the oldest of seven, James E. Jr., Ruby Valerie, Teresa Yvette, Gregory Lionel, Andre Clyde and Antionne Jermaine.

Janet was educated in the Philadelphia public school system where she attended Samuel B. Huey Elementary, Sayre Junior High, and graduated from West Philadelphia High School.

After high school, Janet was employed by John Wanamaker's and later went to school to became a home health aide. She worked as a home health aide for several years before becoming a bank teller at Citizens Bank. Janet was a caregiver for her mother until her passing.

Janet married her high school sweetheart, Michael P. Williams, Sr. in 1978. This union was blessed with two sons, Michael P. Williams Jr. and James W. Williams. Michael predeceased Janet in 1997.

Janet was devoted to her family. She enjoyed knitting, making custom candles, shopping and cooking. However, nothing pleased her more than spending time with her family. She loved her boys and truly adored her grandchildren.

Janet attended Glad Tidings Chapel, under the leadership of the late Rev. Herbert Williams. She became a member of Parham Chapel after the passing of Rev. Williams.

Janet, from a young age, loved to laugh and had a wonderful sense of humor. Janet's nurturing spirit was demonstrated by making sure all the neighborhood kids, on the first day of school, had breakfast.
