Honoring the Life of Dorothy Mae Linton DOROTHY MAE LINTON (affectionately known as Dottie, Aunt Dot, Mom, Grandmom Dot, and Mom-Mom Dot) was born in Abbeville, South Carolina, on August 2, 1937, to the late parents of Bessie Lee Linton and Ollie Linton. Dottie attended the Philadelphia School System, attended Reynolds Elementary School, Vaux Junior High School, and graduated from Simon Gratz High School in 1955. Dottie was raised and lived in North Philadelphia for most of her younger adult life. In 1957 she gave birth to her only daughter, Natalie Johnson. Dottie began her career in the clothing industry in 1962, where she worked for over 60 years between Queen Casuals and Boathouse Sports. She left the clothing industry in 2019 after becoming ill. Dottie possessed several hobbies and talents; she began hairstyling (old-school press and curl) during her high school years. She loved crafts, including creating flower arrangements (dried and live flowers), sewing, crocheting, gardening, and decorating the house, especially for Christmas. Dottie also loved dancing and music. She enjoyed dancing the Old-School Bopping and The Slop and music by BB King, Marvin Gaye, Luther Vandross, Teddy Pendergrass, and a selection of gospels favorites, Mahala Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Donnie McClurkin, Andraé Crouch, and The Winans. Broadway plays, dining out, and playing the lottery were also her favorites. Dottie is survived by: her Daughter, Natalie Johnson; Two Grandsons, Khalil Hakim Rashed-Greene and Jamal Sabir Rashed-Greene; Fourteen Great-Grandchildren, N'Jirah, Sabir, Narri, Syniah, David, LaMar, Brielle, Kyali, Su'liem, Gianna, Wynter, Aemerson, and Lennox; Two Sisters, Addie R. Searles and Mary Jean Edwards; One surviving Aunt, Amanda Johnson, in Abbeville, South Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Bessie Lee Linton (Mother) and Ollie Linton (Father). 2 Timothy 4:7 - "I have fought the Good Fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the Faith." Dottie says, "Now I'm Home."
