The Obituary

Dora Lee Little Bonner, a beloved mother, cherished

friend, and guiding mentor, peacefully passed away on

Wednesday, March 13, 2024. She graced this world on

December 3, 1934 in Martin County, North Caolina,

born to the late William Henry Little and Connie

Roberson Little. Dora, the eldest among six siblings,

spent her formative years in Martin County, imbibing

the strong work ethic instilled by her parents, nurtured

by her experiences on the family farm. She accepted

Christ at an early age and was baptized at Belmont

Baptist Church in North Carolina.

After her graduation from W. C. Chance High

School. Dora embraced numerous responsibilities as

the eldest sibling. Among her many tasks, she

particularly enjoyed tending to her sisters' hair, a

fondness that kindled her desire to attend beauty

school in Charlotte, NC, and refine her craft.

In 1952, having successfully completed her

cosmetology education, Dora entered a new chapter of

her life as she married the love of her life, Robert

Bonner of Everetts, North Carolina. Their journey led

them to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where they

established their home and were blessed with four

sons. Sadly, their third born, Roman, passed away

three days after his birth in 1958.

Dora's professional journey found her working

alongside Macy Morris as a skilled beautician for many

years in Philadelphia, PA. Her dedication extended

beyond the salon, as she also contributed her talents as

a sales clerk in various retail establishments (John

Wanamaker and Strawbridge) throughout her career.

Remarkably, after an impressive 50-year tenure, Dora

retired from Macy's department stores in Ardmore, PA

in June 2016.

Renowned as the family's dedicated shopper, Dora's

fashion sense earned her the title of "hat lady" and

ensured she was always exquisitely attired at every

gathering. Her endearing personality, characterized by

sweetness, humility, and quiet strength, was reflected

in her culinary pursuits. Her culinary repertoire

included specialties such as collard greens, chopped

BBQ, pot roast, and her renowned 7UP cake-a

delectable treat that delighted friends and family alike.

Faith and family formed the bedrock of Dora's

existence. They guided her unwavering spiritual

journey, leading her to become an integral part of First

Corinthian Baptist Church in 1967. Engaging deeply,

she contributed to the church as a member of the

Deaconess Ministry, Women's Choral Ensemble, Adult

Chorus, United Voices, Prayer Band, and Sunday

School (Class #14) to name a few, further embodying

her commitment to both her faith and community.

Dora leaves behind a legacy cherished by those who

loved her. She is survived by her three devoted sons:

Robert Bonner Jr. (Marcella) of Upper Darby, PA;

Trebor L. Bonner (Suzette) of Plains, PA; and Jujuan

Bonner of Havertown, PA. Her memory lives on

through her three grandchildren: Robert Bonner III and

Taleah Bonner of Lakeland, FL; and Jujuan Bonner of

Carlupa, PA. Additionally, four great-grandchildren-

Roman, Egypt, Atlas and Tikal of Carlupa, PA-ensure

her spirit lives on in the hearts of future generations.

Dora's legacy is also carried by her two brothers:

James H. Little (Gladys) of Columbia, SC, and Benjamin

E. Little of Danbury, CT' and three sisters: Lois W. Atlas

of Danbury, CT, Constant L. Jeffreys (John) of Athens,

GA, and Nada Albritton of Brookfield, CT. Her

presence will be missed by numerous nieces, nephews,

relatives, and friends. Dora now rests with her beloved

husband, Robert Bonner, her cherished son, Roman

Bonner, and her parents, William Henry and Connie

Little, who have all gone before her.

As we honor the memory of Dora Lee Little

Bonner, let us remember her for the love she shared,

the inspiration she provided, and the indelible mark

she left on all our lives. May her legacy continue to

guide us, and may her soul find eternal peace.
