Life Story

Dennis Joe Wilhite affectionately known as "Nuke" and "The Great Spook" was born on September 18, 1948, in North Carolina to the late Jerry Lee Wilhite Sr. and Betty Mae Coltrane Wilhite.

He is known for his great notorious sayings: "Yes Hell" and "Do it Fool". He is also known for the quickness of his feet. Those that knew him know what we mean.

He worked at The Philadelphia Iron Company where he retired after many years of employment. His passion was being a mechanic and through those skills he gained a host of friends and extended family.

He was proceeded in death by his Father, Jerry Lee Wilhite Sr., Mother Betty Mae Coltrane Wilhite, four brothers: Alvis Dean Wilhite, Ronnie Wilhite, Clyde Wilhite Sr., and Jerry Lee Wilhite.

Dennis leaves to cherish his memories Wife: April Wilhite of Philadelphia, PA, Children: Linda Allison of Liberty, NC, Derrick (Boot) Allison of Morristown, TN, Dennis Joe (Poodie) Allison of Liberty, NC, Angela (Tina) Wilhite, Melissa Henderson, Joey (Joe-Joe) Wilhite of Philadelphia, PA, Mahalia (Hallie) Wilhite and Donte (Donnie) of Exton, PA. Stepchildren: Tara, Waleed, Stu and Na Na all of Philadelphia, PA. 34 Grandchildren and 29 Great Grandchildren. Brothers: William (Wiss) (Peggy) Wilhite of Liberty, NC, Billy (Chub) Wilhite of Raleigh, NC, Benny (Carsell) (Gennie) Wilhite of Winston-Salem, NC, John Coltrane of Greensboro, NC, and Barry (Winkie) Campbell of Greensboro, NC a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews. Most of all he leaves a special nephew who affectionately called him "Unc", Kenny (Spider) (Cindy) Swaringer of Philadelphia, PA.
