Born on December 27th, 1964, in Philadelphia, PA, Delbert Darnell Young entered the world, a cherished son ofBrenda J. Young andthe late James Delbert Young. His impact would extend through time, leaving behind a lasting imprint on the hearts of those who loved him dearly.

Educated in the halls of the public school system, Delbert's spirit soared at Overbrook High School in West Philadelphia. There, he wasn't just an athlete; he was a force of nature. Basketball, football, track; he conquered them all, leaving behind a trail of shattered records and inspired hearts.Following his graduation, Delbert answered the call to serve his country with honor, proudly donning the uniform of the United States Marine Corps for four years, forever earning the esteemed title, "Once a Marine, always a Marine."

Thirty-six years of unwavering dedication marked his career at Verizon, a testament to his admirable work ethic. But beyond accolades and achievements, Delbert's true legacy lay in his boundless love for his family.

In the halls of Overbrook High School, he met Theresa DelLior, bringing forth the blessing of his first daughter, LaChenna DelLior. Fate then intertwined his path with his high school sweetheart, Chnevolyn Inez Mckoy, birthing a union that would blossom into five beautiful children: Chnevolyn (Heidi), Chnae`, Chyniece, Chydell, and Delbert (Coo Boy) Mckoy. Later in life, love found him again in the form of his beloved wife, Yuande Young, and his stepson, Bobby.

Delbert was the epitome of a family man, a beacon of strength and warmth. From family excursions to celebrating life's victories, his laughter filled every room he entered. As a dedicated sports fan, you could always find him proudly cheering on his grandsons from the sidelines of their football games or passionately supporting his favorite team the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Yet, beyond the laughter and camaraderie, Delbert was a pillar of strength and someone to rely on to those he held dear. His legacy as one of the original Hilltop legends will forever be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
