Obituary

DR. DEBORAH W. DORSEY was born to Delores Dorsey and Gene Whitener in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Deborah was educated in the Philadelphia School System and graduated from University City High School in 1988. Deborah continued her education at Wilfred Academy Beauty School where she became a Certified Licensed Cosmetologist and Beautician; Community College Of Philadelphia receiving an Associate Of Applied Science Degree in Computer Information Systems & Programming; LaSalle University receiving Bachelor Of Arts Degree in Organizational Leadership & Information Technology and Master Of Science Degree in Nonprofit Leadership; and finally Doctorate Of Business Administration & Management and Public Administration Degree from Northcentral University.

Dr. Dorsey was a Health Program Analyst for the City of Philadelphia building her pursuit for many years working as Program Directors for various Corporations. Her passion was to help people through community outreach volunteering her talents and skills through the American Planning Association, Delta Mu Delta Honor Society, National Association For The Advancement Of Colored People, National Society of Leadership And Success and Stand Up For Kids where she was endorsed by many professionals throughout the Philadelphia Communities. From childhood Dr. Dorsey was always fun and filled with laughter. You would never see her without a book; reading was her passion. Throughout Deborah's life she stood strong and firm on her Causes: Animal Welfare, Arts & Culture, Children, Education, Human Rights, Poverty Alleviation, Social Services, Civil Rights, Social Action and Economic Empowerment. Deborah was also adventurous as she rode her motorcycle with her club members and enjoyed going to the firing range and shooting her firearm. Above all she was our sister who we loved very much. We were so proud of her and her achievements.

We held her in high esteem and was saddened as she fought and succumbed to an illness of breast cancer that she had beaten on an uphill battle, all while currently overcoming lupus from many years and in September 24, 2022. The life of this blazing star ended too soon. Still, her spirit will continue through the lives of the people she inspired.

Dr. Deborah W. Dorsey leaves to cherish her legacy: two sons, Prentis and Ronald; one granddaughter, Austyn Riley; three brothers, Jerome, David and Ronald; two sisters, Beverley and Leila; first cousins, Maurice, Pamela, James and Anthony; cousins, Sharell, James, Antwine, Jasmine, Maniah, Jamiah, Darius, Davier and Naasir; and one aunt, Eleanor. She also leaves a host of nephews, Jamal, David, Rishon and Logan; nieces, Shanice and Aissa; and friends.
