It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved sister, Deborah J. Brinkley. On Tuesday, March 4, 2025, God gently closed her eyes as she entered into eternal rest at the age of 72. Born on January 27, 1953, in the vibrant city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Deborah was the cherished daughter of the late Millard and Mary Duvall. A proud product of the Philadelphia School System, she graduated from West Philadelphia High School in June 1971.

Deborah answered the call to serve her country, joining the United States Marine Corps and earning an honorable discharge after over a year of commendable service. On February 14, 1995, she united in holy matrimony with Steven Brinkley, sharing years of joys and challenges before the union respectfully concluded on June 5, 2018. A woman of dedication and heartfelt commitment, Deborah achieved numerous accolades throughout her life. She was awarded a certificate of recognition as a Girl Scout Leader for the Girl Scouts of Greater Philadelphia in 1980; for her unwavering service and passion for nurturing young minds. In the 1990s, she furthered her education, earning an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Mental Health/Social Service from the Community College of Philadelphia, alongside gaining certification in Early Childhood Education, with a focus on addressing the needs of children from various cultural backgrounds. Professionally, Deborah excelled as a Primary Therapist at the West Philadelphia Community Mental Health Consortium Inc., specializing in addiction services for substance and alcohol abuse. She also devoted herself as a Child Care Specialist at Genesis II, Inc. Caton Village, and later as a professional parent in the Carson Valley Community Homes based Program, providing support to dependent youth with emotional and behavioral challenges.Beyond her professional achievements, Deborah's heart was with her community. She joyously volunteered at the Caring Center/Infants and Toddlers, Penn Children's Center/University of Penn/Preschool, and the Women Against Abuse Program, among others. Her faith journey was marked by membership in the Mount Carmel Grand Chapter Order of Eastern Star, Zion Chapter No. 14 A.F. & A.M. of Pennsylvania, and devout participation at Mount Olivet Tabernacle Baptist Church and Mount Zion Baptist Church of Germantown.

Deborah's essence was her kindness, compassion, and an infectious personality that lifted spirits wherever she went. She was a tireless worker and a beacon of selflessness, always extending a helping hand. Her love for travel, music, theater, and singing enriched her life and those fortunate enough to share in her experiences. Deborah leaves behind a family bound in love and memories to cherish: her two devoted sisters, Linda and Kimberly; her brother, Ronald; three nephews, Gregory, Derrick, and Elliot; her niece, Andrea Duvall ; along with herformer husband, Steven Brinkley, and a host of relatives, and dear friends. Predeceased by her parents and her brother Mark. Deborah's legacy endures in the love and care she bestowed on everyone she met. As we gather to honor and celebrate Deborah's enduring legacy, let usremember the strength and joy of a sister's bond: "A sister is someone who loves you from the heart. A friend who helps you through difficult times, a partner who fills your life with laughter and smiles.
