BRENDA PAULINE JONES, the eldest daughter of the late Mary H. Townsend and Jimmie Lee Allen, was born on November 22, 1949, in Salisbury, Maryland. God welcomed her into His heavenly arms on July 3rd , 2023, at the age of 73, while surrounded by her family.

Brenda, along with her husband and three children, moved to Philadelphia at the age of 27. Shortly after moving to Philadelphia, two of her younger sisters followed her lead and relocated to Philadelphia from Maryland. She made Philly her home for the remainder of her life but often returned to her original hometown of Fruitland, Maryland to visit her family and friends.

Brenda worked and retired from the Defense Personnel Support Center (Quartermasters) in 1994.

She gave her life to Christ and was a Greater St. Luke Disciple Church member, where she served on the Missionary Board as the Treasurer for several years. She loved attending Sunday School so she could better understand the Bible.

She lived a life that was full of joy and happiness. Whenever she planned to return to her hometown, everyone anticipated and excitedly awaited her arrival. She always enjoyed "catching up," reminiscing, and creating more memories. She never met a stranger and was very outspoken with a bubbly personality, always smiling, bringing laughter, and would set up a "quick sale" of fashionable clothes. And let's not forget those yummy fried pork chop and fish platters on Wyalusing Avenue.

Over the years, she began attending the West Philadelphia Senior Center in her neighborhood. It was there she gained another family that she loved dearly, and they loved her as well. She looked forward to going there to socialize, attend events, laugh, and make new memories, often arriving on her motorized "Cadillac" ready for a good time. When she wasn't able to meet her friends at the Center, several would come to her home and they would continue their fellowship and fun, celebrating one another's birthdays, holidays, and "just because."

Brenda Pauline Jones leaves to mourn: two children, Brian Terry of Salisbury, Maryland, and Alesha R. Smith (Roland) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren, Brittany-Marie, Brandon-Michael, Eboni, Lemanns, Rakeem, and Jamal; six great-grandchildren, Joseph Jr., Kevante Jr., Zion, Rakeem Jr., Armani, and Kendrick; three brothers, James, Russell, and Sammy Allen; three sisters Rose and Martha Allen and Vicky Liggett (Chris); a daughter of love, Sherry Thompson; a sister in Christ, Velma Patrick-Gadson; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives, loved ones, and friends who will miss her presence dearly.

She also leaves precious memories with her long-time friends at the West Philadelphia Senior Center; her co-workers from Quartermasters; her care providers at the DaVita Dialysis Center; all of her neighbors on Wyalusing Avenue; and long-time friends from childhood, Dennis Jones (Oxon Hill, Maryland), Izola Warren (Washington, DC), and Mary Polk (Salisbury, Maryland).

Besides her parents, Mary and Jimmie, Brenda is preceded in death by her son, Jonathan Lamont Smith; granddaughter, Ayana Leigh Nugent; husband, Harold Jones; and her long-time companion, Jose Candelario.
