BETTY DURHAM, affectionately known as "Betty Boop" was born on November 24th 1953 to Rosalie and Willie Durham in Philadelphia Pa. Betty was the 5th of 12 children, and was raised in the West Philly neighborhood called "The Bottom". Betty attended Belmont Elementary School as a kid and then went to Sulzberger Middle School and West Philadelphia High School as a teenager. She left us September 28th 2024 quietly in her sleep.

Betty had 5 sisters (Dorothy, Eloise, Vivian, Jeanette, and Regina), and 6 brothers (Rubin, Johnny, Edward, Michael, Bernard, and Eric). This led to an atmosphere that of a whirlwind. But whether it was on 39th St or 49th St, The Durham household was the place to be, and Betty was the generator.

Betty was a very charismatic personality and had a penchant for partying and just simply having a good time. If ever there was a chance she spoke her mind, and told you exactly what was on it. Shortly before her 18th birthday she had her first child Antionette in 1971. Betty began working at Presbyterian Hospital with her mother for a time, and then began cleaning offices in downtown Philadelphia. During her early 20's she had two sons Anthony (Man), and Arthur (Big Bo).

There were trying times attempting to raise 3 children, but she kept a positive attitude and fought life and all its demons as hard as she could. Through it all she never complained and would always use the line, "Why worry about it"? One way she escaped the rigors of daily life was her love for sports. Betty enjoyed all the Philly teams whichever were on television, but the Eagles was by far her favorite. She passed this love of sports to her children who all lived and died on the successes and failures of each. She lived long enough to witness all the major sports teams win a championship, most importantly the Eagles.

During 1984 she met her lifelong partner Robert (Mr. Bob) Smalls, whom she was with until his passing in 2023. Betty and Bobby were like a comedy team with their hijinks, but when they came around there was love in the air.

Betty loved her friends and family. She leaves behind a host of them, as well as her nephews, nieces, grandchildren and cousins. She was truly the last of a lost breed.
