Mother Betty L. Coles was born in Danville, Virginia October 21, 1930 to the late John and Annie Wilson. She departed this life on her journey home to be with the Lord, May 13, 2024. She was educated in the

Virginia Public School System where graduated from Langston High School.

Mother Coles accepted the Lord as her Personal Savior at the young age of seventeen. She met and married the Late Walter C. Coles Sr. and from this union there were born four children: Water C. Jr., Rita E. (deceased), Wanda B., and Winston D. Coles. Mother Coles, kept God first and was also a devoted mother.

Later in 1954, the family move to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was there that Mother Coles met her former Pastor, the Late Pastor Annie Duncan Robinson. It was in Pastor Duncan's home that Bible Study and Prayer meetings were held. Years later, steadfast members Mother Coles, Evangelist Baskerville, and Lilly B. Duncan became the founding members of Holy Ghost Crusade Church. Mother Coles was a steadfast and faithful member for forty-three years.

Mother Coles was later lead by the Spirit of God to join the Church of New Hope and Faith Inc., and soon after becoming a member under the Pastorship of the Late Bishop James McNeal Jr. A few short years later, Bishop McNeal, being led by the Spirit of God appointed Mother Coles as the Mother of the Church.

Mother enjoyed her position as Mother of the Church, and to her, it was more than just a title. Everyone could always come to Mother Coles for inspiration, guidance and encouragement. Along with being the Mother of the Church, she was also the Director of both the Mother Board as well as the Missionary Board.

Mother Coles enjoyed travelling the country with her church by way of NCFC and had ever missed any trips.

Her work was not confined to the four walls of the church as she was a blessing to many outside the church. She was an active members of Impact "Players Prayer Band" and she was also a member of "Prayer Call Line" with Marie Gardner, and "My Help Prayer Band" with Deniece Lyon.

The children of her church family at the Church of New Hope and Faith Inc. has always held a special place in her heart, from the youngest to the oldest, and she never failed at Christmas Time to give each child and youth a Personal Holiday Greeting card with a five-dollar bill enclosed.

Mother Coles leaves to cherish her memory three surviving children: Walter C. Coles Jr., Wanda B., Winston D. Coles, and William Harper. Two surviving siblings from Danville Virginia one sister, and one brother: Marcel Wimbush, and John Wilson. Seven Grandchildren: Walter, Margo, Marta, Temar, Winston, Jamille and Abraham. Six Great-Grandchildren: Aaron, Kayla, Iman, Todd and Abraham-Evan.
