Obituary

ALONZO PICKRON, 80, of Philadelphia, PA, passed away on July 9, 2021, after a long illness. A resident of Philadelphia, he was born on January 5, 1941, to the late Robert and Emma Pickron. ALONZO attended schools in the Philadelphia School District, and graduated from Overbrook High School in 1960. After graduation, he worked at the Philadelphia Navy Yard and the Philadelphia Ironworkers Union. At the age of 40, ALONZO became an entrepreneur, fulfilling his dream to become the master of his own destiny. He married the late Elizabeth Wilkes in September 1995. ALONZO loved to sing and joined an amateur singing group with high school friends who sang Doo Wop. He had a beautiful tenor voice, and could hold his own. He was an active member of the North Church, and sang in the Awesome Praise choir. He enjoyed every moment when he had a solo, and so did others. Alonzo had a collection of gospel music, and music from the 50's and 60's that he enjoyed listening to while driving his luxury cars. His all-time favorite artist was Barry White. ALONZO was a lifelong Philadelphia Eagles fan, and he always looked forward to football season. He loved old westerns and watching comedies and dramas on the Movie Channel. Everyone who knew Alonzo, knew about his love of good food. For Alonzo, no one could hold a candle to his mother's soul food cooking! ALONZO was a spiritual man and enjoyed fellowshipping with his congregation and friends at his annual picnics at his home. Everyone who attended were grateful for his hospitality, and to be a part of his social activities. He was also a great benefactor to many organizations, as well as individuals. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and his church community. ALONZO is survived by his children, Marcine Pickron-Davis, (spouse, Steven Davis); Carla Schrieber, (spouse Michael Schrieber); Alonzo Andre Pickron; Alexas Wesley Pickron; and his step-daughter, Yolanda Hughes. He is also survived by his sister, Kay Pickron, and his grandchildren, Kellen Davis, Kyla Davis, and Francesca Pickron. Sorrowfully Submitted, The Family
