The Obituary EDITH BOWLES, daughter of the late James and Estella Hawkins was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on March 13, 1942. Edie, as she is affectionately called, was raised in the house of the Lord. She recently returned as a member of Holy Temple Church of God in Christ, which she passionately pursued with all of her heart. An avid pursuant of education, she studied at Community College of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania. Sister Bowles has passed on to join her loving husband of 29 years, Mr. Clarence Bowles who recently departed on Valentines Day. A love story written in the stars and reunited in God's loving arms. Edie loved the spiritual journey, excitement, and quest that life had to offer. She traveled to from Paris to San Francisco and made a beautiful home in Petersburg, Virginia. She loved to go fishing with her husband, travel, write poetry, cook, laugh hard, dance with joy, socialize with her loved ones, and nurture her children. Wherever she went she made many friends. She made her transition in sweet peace on Tuesday, July 25, 2006 and leaves to mourn: three sons, Derrick Domingo, Colman Domingo, and Phillip Bowles; one daughter, Averie Cherry; two sons-in-law, two daughters-in-law, eight grandchildren, one brother, Raymond Hawkins; one sister, Thelma Seawell; a host of in-laws, cousins, nephews, nieces, and other loving relatives and an abundance of friends.
